ABOUT JOHN
Catholic Worship Leader & Songwriter
John Finch is a Catholic worship leader and songwriter whose desire is to write and share music that helps people encounter Jesus. From the beginning, John’s life has been shaped by a deep love for both music and faith, a combination that would eventually become the foundation of his ministry.
From his earliest memories, music was one of the ways John encountered God. As a child, he would ride his bike down the street for piano lessons, where he began developing his skills as a young musician. While serving in his local church, he discovered a deep love for worship and the way music could draw people closer to the Lord. As a teenager, John began leading worship for retreats and youth events throughout the Archdiocese of New Orleans, where his love for music grew alongside a desire to help others pray and encounter God through song.
That passion eventually became a full-time ministry. Over the past decade, John has led worship for congregations across the United States and around the world. Throughout his ministry, he has partnered with organizations serving the Church, including Life Teen, the John Paul II Healing Center, Hope and Purpose Ministries, Catholic Heart Work Camp, the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM), Holy Fire, and dioceses across the country.
In 2016, John co-founded The Vigil Project, a Catholic music nonprofit dedicated to creating “music for the Catholic journey.” What began as a small collaboration among friends grew into a community of musicians and worship leaders seeking to renew the sound of worship within the Catholic Church. Through The Vigil Project, John has helped write, record, and perform music that has reached hearts around the world.
John’s creative work continues to be shaped through collaboration. In 2024, he began a new partnership with OCP (Oregon Catholic Press), continuing his desire to write and share music that serves the Church and inspires prayer. He is also a collaborating artist with Echo Harbor Worship, a faith-based worship community focused on building bridges and fostering unity through the love of God. Echo Harbor’s mission reflects John’s own desire to remind people that we are all part of one family in Christ.
Most recently, John began a new ministry partnership with Catholic evangelist John Edwards, host of the popular Just A Guy In The Pew Podcast. John serves as a worship leader for John’s Restored Parish Missions, helping launch and support men’s ministry across the country that are rooted in faith and authentic brotherhood.
Through years of ministry, John has come to see his music not as a platform for success, but as a humble offering to the Lord. “My work has become so much less about me,” he shares. “For so long, my identity was tied to what I could accomplish as an artist. But I’ve found so much freedom in letting go of the pressure to compare or perform. My hope now is simply that my life, my work, and my family would glorify the Lord and help others encounter Him.”
Alongside his travels, John continues to serve faithfully as a worship leader in his local parish and community. He lives in Mandeville, Louisiana, with his wife, Molly and their daughter, Sophie.
