ABOUT JOHN
John Finch is a Catholic singer-songwriter and worship leader devoted to helping others encounter Jesus through heartfelt and prayerful music.
From the very beginning, John’s life has been marked by a deep love for both music and faith, a combination that would one day shape his calling to unite artistry with ministry. What began as a personal passion soon became a mission: to create spaces where people can experience the peace, beauty, and presence of God through song.
From his earliest memories, music has been the language through which John encountered God. Growing up playing music in his local church, he discovered that worship wasn’t just about the songs themselves, but about encountering God’s presence. As a teenager, John began leading worship for retreats and youth events, uncovering not only a gift for music but also a deep desire to help others pray through song.
That passion eventually grew into a full-time ministry. Over the past decade, John has led countless congregations in worship across the United States and around the world. Known for his gentle and reverent approach, he creates an atmosphere of peace that invites people to rest in the love of God.
In 2016, John co-founded The Vigil Project, a Catholic music nonprofit dedicated to creating “music for the Catholic journey.” What began as a small collaboration among friends soon blossomed into a movement of faith-filled artistry, bringing together musicians and worship leaders who sought to renew the sound of worship within the Catholic Church. Through The Vigil Project, John has helped write, record, and perform music that has touched hearts around the world.
John’s creative heart continues to be shaped by collaboration. Most recently, he has begun an exciting new partnership with OCP (Oregon Catholic Press), continuing his mission to write and share songs that serve the Church and inspire prayer.
He is also a collaborating artist with Echo Harbor Worship, a faith-based, worship-centered community that seeks to build bridges and foster unity through the love of God. Echo Harbor’s mission resonates deeply with John’s own, reminding all people that they are part of one family in Christ.
Through years of ministry, John has come to see his art not as a platform for success but as a humble offering. “My work has become so much less about me,” he shares. “For so long, my identity was tied to what I could accomplish as an artist. But I’ve found so much freedom in letting go of the pressure to compare or perform. My hope now is simply that my life, my work, and my family would glorify the Lord and lead others to encounter Him.”
Alongside his travels, John continues to serve faithfully as a worship leader in his local parish and community. He lives in Mandeville, Louisiana, with his wife and daughter, finding daily inspiration in the quiet, grace-filled moments of family life.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING:
““I am so grateful for both the excellence and prayerfulness of John Finch and his crew. They have played for several diocesan and parish events, and they always lift my soul. I highly recommend them anytime you are looking for beautiful music and leaders of praise and worship.””
““John has really become part of our ministry team at Chapelle. This is because he is a true worship leader, not a performer. Everything he does in his music ministry is guided by the Holy Spirit, and his prayerful and beautiful worship always leads those he is serving into a deeper encounter with Christ. It is never about him or about a performance. It is a joy to work with someone who I can trust that they understand the mission!””
““Our Lenten Mission led by John was one of the most well received by my parishioners. Months after the mission, people are still talking about it and asking when he is coming back to lead us in prayer. One of my first graders described the experience best, “Father, I wanted to cry I felt so close to Jesus.” John has a wonderful ability to lead people in true worship of the Lord. We can’t wait to have him back!””
““John is a true gift to the church. He brings a wealth of knowledge to worship and liturgy. He knows how to worship in the appropriate setting in song but teaches that to our young people in a relatable way. John works easily with our team in preparing and giving retreats wanting only the best experience for our retreatants. We have witnessed him encourage others to find their own gifts and talents within music and has helped guide them in using them.””
